3 3 rain is to blame for a crash on the edge of downtown asheville. the driver was not hurt, but firefighters say he could not see in the rain, turning from patton avenue onto clingman avenue. the car ended up at a 45- degree angle on a utility pole. the road was closed for a short time to get the car back on the ground. 3 3 3 developing in burke county... a beloved landmark... destroyed by fire. now the a-t-f is involved in the investigation to find out why. the old hildebran school house was built nearly 100 years ago. but it only took hours for flames to destroy it. for the last year, residents fought to save the building from demolition after town leaders voted to tear it down. 3 "it's a piece of my heart it's a piece of my heart going up over there."sad day. sad day for hildebran. the chief of the hildebran fire department credits firefighters with

(jeffrey getting/kalamazoo county prosecutor) "one of the pieces of evidence that was seized from the suspect was his phone, and that phone is being gone through."other key evidence - the handgun police say they found on suspect jason brian dalton...the pistol - consistent with shell casings from all three crime scenes...perhaps even more disturbing, the 'heavy duty' jacket - capable of concealing a pistol - ......which law enforcement says dalton bought less than three hours before the first attack.also, a veritable arsenal - a total of eleven rifles - investigators found at dalton's home...this, as one injured victim is still recovering, expected to survive......while another clings to life in the hospital. 3 3 happening today... president obama has a plan to shut down guantanamo bay. white house officials will submit the outline to congress today. mister obama has long-vowed to close the prison facility. he says it is used as a recruiting tool by terrorists and is too costly to maintain. congress had opposed previous plans to shut down gitmo. the current proposal involves transferring most of the detainees to other countries. those deemed too dangerous for travel will be sent to a detention facility here in the u-s. 3 3 3 there are new developments now... involving the new north carolina congressional map. the original voters who sued, claiming the first map was racially gerrymandered, are now asking federal judges to decide if the new map is legal. they want the judges to issue a ruling by march 18th. because of the new map, the general assembly changed the date of the congressional primaries from march 15th to june 7th. 3 the n-double-a-c-p calls the new map unconstitutional. the group says it still

minority voters into three congressional districts... even though lawmakers used the results of recent elections, and not race, to re-draw the map. the n-double-a-c-p wants the panel of federal judges to draw the map themselves. 3 3 both mountain congressmen are reacting to the new redistricting map and the primary delay. in a statement to news 13, a spokesman for 10th district representative patrick mchenry said: "congressman mchenry shares constituents confusion and frustration with the late change to north carolina's congressional primary date." he goes on to say mchenry will continue to represent the people of the 10th district in washington. no matter when the primary is held. 3 3 3 part of the new map moves avery county out of the 11th district. congressman mark meadows tells us... "i trust the state legislature to resolve the redistricting issue and defer to the proposal that it has presented." "however, i am personally disappointed to lose the great county of avery in the 11th district." meadows says he will continue to work with citizens and leaders in avery county, when

3 it is "pregnancy week" on news 13 this morning. we are taking a look at all things pregnancy related. yesterday, we showed you some of the latest technology. and today... we are taking a look at a surprising new trend. women consuming their placentas after giving birth. christine robinson and her sister are co-owners of "doulas of asheville." they now offer placenta encapsulation. first, the new mom brings the placenta home from the hospital in a cooler. then the doulas go to work in the client's kitchen for a

3 it's 5:xx. let's take a look at business headlines. stocks rally at the start of the week on wall street. the dow was up 228 points yesterday ending at 16-thousand 620. the nasdaq was up 66 points to end the day at 45-70. 3 3 a favorite lunch plance in west asheville closed over the weekend. the owners of mama's fast food on haywood road say the property is being sold. mama's served the neighborhood

this sign in the window on sunday thanking customers for their support. but if you really miss the food, owners say they will continue to cater events. 3 starbucks is overhauling its rewards program. the goal is to speed up service at the checkout. under the old program, members got one star per visit -- and it didn't matter how much was spent. as a result, customers were asking baristas to ring up a series of items as separate transactions, slowing down the process. the new program is based on how much a customer spends, not on the number of transactions. 3 shares of fit-bit, the maker of activity trackers, fell 16 percent in after-hours trading. the fall came after the company said it expected first- quarter revenues to miss expectations. the company's shares are down 53 percent from their first day closing price of 30 dollars. that makes it the 31st worst- performing i-p-o over the past 12 months. investors are concerned the company cannot maintain its level of growth. 3
